This fine leaf grass is low-allergenic and requires 75% less nitrogen than other common turf varieties. You’ll also notice a big reduction in maintenance with up to 50% less mowing. Sir Grange looks great at various mowing heights, allowing the customer to choose just the right height and texture. Sir Grange is a grass that performs well in shade needing only 3 hours of direct sunlight per day. Sir Grange is successfully grown and sold in over 10 different countries and is backed by the Lawn Solutions Australia 10 Year Product Warranty. Ideal laying time September to end March.
Watering
Sir Grange requires regular daily watering for the first 3 to 4 weeks. And then deep waters every 2 to 3 days until fully established.
Week 1 & 2 – keep wet (but not saturated), water 2-3 times per day.
Week 3 & 4 – longer watering times, 1-2 times per day.
Week 5 & 6 – deep watering, 3-4 times per week.
Week 7 & 8 – deep watering, 2-3 times per week.
Due to it’s slow growing nature Sir Grange may take many months to fully establish.
Once established Sir Grange water deeply for long periods as required. Water more regularly during the unforgiving dry summer months. (1 to 2 times per week). Watering may be minimal during the cooler months unless we experience a dry winter.
Fertilising
When fully established Sir Grange requires little fertiliser. Fertilise your lawn when it looks hungry or starts to lose colour. Fertilising your lawn prior to April will help your lawn cope with the cold winter conditions. Water in well. Only fertilise at half rates or as specified.
First Mow
Do not mow Sir Grange until the turf roots are firmly attached to the soil. If your Sir Grange roots have fully established you can give your lawn its first gentle trim, just taking the tips off. Generally 6 to 8 weeks after laying. You can check the establishment by pulling up the edge of your lawn to see if the roots have attached to the soil. If you lay Sir Grange during the cooler months mowing may not be required for some time.
Mowing
Once established, Sir Grange requires half the mowing of other traditional warm season grasses. Sir Grange is a low maintenance lawn. Expect to mow your Sir Grange lawn every two or three weeks. It can be mowed at multiple heights with a standard cylinder or rotary mower.
Winter Mowing
Trim your Sir Grange to the desired height during April to prepare it for the best winter health. Lift your mower blades after April and only mow the tips off when required. Use the mower to remove any surface debris. This is all that should be required from May to end September.
Family & Pets
Due to the slow growth characteristics Sir Grange may be sensitive to dog urine. If urine burns occurs on Sir Grange lawn it may take some time to repair.
