‘Paint’ your lawn this Winter!
How can I keep my lawn green in Winter you ask? Grass colourant may be the product for you!
Coming into the cooler weather, you may notice discolouration in some lawn varieties. This is common, due to some varieties such as Kikuyu and Couch going into varying levels of dormancy.
Although it sounds crazy, have you ever considered ‘painting’ your lawn? No, we don’t mean that by grabbing a can of spray paint out of your shed, we’re talking about Lawn Solution’s Colourguard Plus! While it may not quite be painting your lawn, it has much of the same effect.
What is Colourguard Plus?
Colourguard Plus is an organically derived pigment, which when applied absorbs into the leaf giving your lawn a lush green colour. This means it won’t rub off, wash off or stain clothing. It’s safe to use with pets & children, so suitable to all home environments. Not only will it enhance the colour of your lawn, it contains fertiliser so it’s more than just a cosmetic fix!
Although it sounds uncommon, you’d be surprised how popular this product is. Golf courses use it, sports fields & turf farms use it – we even use it here on farm at Sunnyside.
Trials performed on farm proved that Colourguard Plus increased leaf temperatures by up to 3°C, encouraging plant growth & a healthier lawn.
It can make a world of difference in the appearance of your lawn & has many known benefits, such as:
- Prevents frost damage (by raising ground temperatures)
- Fertilises your lawn
- Instantly enhances lawn colour for up to 3 months.
- Easy to apply
- Safe around children & pets
- 100% eco- friendly & non toxic
- Increases leaf temperature by up to 3C
Colourguard Plus is available in 3 convenient sizes:

How do I apply Colourguard Plus?
Keep an eye on the weather forecast, you’ll need to apply when your lawn is dry, and there is no rain forecasted.
Work from one side of your lawn to the other, applying evenly. Be sure to clean any paths, concrete or borders immediately if there is any overspray, to avoid staining.
After 24hours, hose off your lawn to remove any residue. Be sure to keep pets & children off your lawn until dry to prevent any transfer, otherwise it might not just be your lawn that’s green!
